2024 Upcoming Events
- October 13, 2024 – Beach Cities Walk to End Alzheimer’s
SVA CARES held the second annual beach clean at Dockweiler Beach and removed seven trash bags worth of garbage. As part of our mission to transform the communities in which we live, we hope to keep our beaches beautiful for future community members to enjoy.
In April 2024, SVA CARES partnered with Northwestern Mutual’s women’s group to collect clothing donations for the Alexandria House, a transitional home located in Los Angeles. The Alexandria House provides safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelters to permanent housing, and the donations collected help to provide a variety of items for the residents, both current and past, as well as neighbors in need.
SVA CARES, in partnership with Northwestern Mutual’s Philanthropy Council and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), raised funds for and volunteered at PCRF’s Sprint for Science. The event raised funds to find cures for pediatric cancer with the hopes that one day all children can beat the disease. SVA CARES hopes that through its support for PCRF, scientific breakthroughs can be accelerated in order to transform pediatric cancer care and help children achieve their full potential so they can realize happy, healthy, productive futures.
SVA CARES kicked off 2024 by volunteering at the Hawthorne spcaLA animal shelter. Volunteers made KONGS for dogs to keep them mentally stimulated, shredded newspapers to create bedding for guinea pigs, and put together treat bags for volunteers and potential adopters to give to the dogs to reinforce good behavior, which increases the probability of their adoption. After finishing these tasks, volunteers were able to play with the cats and dogs available at the shelter. Both the volunteers and animals enjoyed the chance to interact with each other, and it was overall a great way to end the day of service.
SVA CARES fundraised and walked in their 2nd Beach Cities Walk to End Alzheimer’s. As many of our clients as well as team members have had personal experience with this disease, SVA CARES is proud to support the organization in the fight to end this disease. Proceeds raised from this walk go towards Alzheimer’s care/support as well as advancing research towards methods of prevention, treatment, and ultimately, a cure.
SVA CARES partnered with the South Bay Food Initiative in collecting 123 pounds of shelf-stable food during the month of November. These donations will be given to families experiencing hunger and food insecurity in the South Bay community via local food banks. Through collaborating with this the Northwestern Mutual community as well as the South Bay Food Initiative, we hope to provide dignified access to food in order to improve and maintain the health of our community.
SVA CARES collected clothing donations in tandem with our local Manhattan Beach women’s group to benefit the Vietnam Veterans of America organization. People donated new and gently-used clothing for the benefit of veterans. Through our collective efforts, this charity will sell the donated items to private companies by annual bid to generate the majority of funding to support local, state, and national programs focused on helping veterans receive quality health care and identifying the full range of disabling injuries and illnesses incurred during military service.
Part of Strategic View Advisors’ vision is to transform the community in which we live. In pursuit of that goal, SVA CARES organized a cleanup of a local South Bay beach. The team removed six trash bags worth of garbage from the beach, which helps improve the ecosystem and keeps our beaches clean for future generations.
Cancer is an issue that has affected many people’s lives. To that end, SVA CARES fundraised for the American Cancer Society’s Torrance Relay for Life in May 2023 in order to help raise funds towards research and patient care programs. Ten employees, friends, and family members also walked to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers. Our hope is through supporting the American Cancer Society, we are not only looking to make a difference in our community, but also to help the American Cancer Society save lives.
In the spirit of holiday giving, SVA CARES held a “raffle” to donate to local and national charities that are meaningful to both the team as well as our clients. Clients were asked to choose from a pre-selected list of charities. If their name was randomly selected, the charity of their choice received a donation in their name. The result was donations to the Humane Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, Foster Nation, the American Cancer Society, and the Heart of Los Angeles. Thank you to all the participants for not only helping us spread holiday cheer, but also helping us transform the community in which we live.
Strategic View Advisors is a proud supporter of the Walk to End Alzheimers. In 2022, SVA was the 4th top corporate team in fundraising efforts towards Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. 15 people comprising of colleagues, friends, and family also walked the 5k to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s. The event held special meaning, as some people on our team have experienced caring for family members battling this disease. We’re proud to both engage with the local South Bay community and also contribute towards one day finding a cure.
Strategic View Advisors partnered with Foster Nation to organize a clothing drive intended to benefit local foster youth students. People donated their new or gently-used clothing and accessories at our office throughout the month. 100% of the donated items were distributed to foster care communities to be obtained during “shopping spree” events hosted by the organization. Donors were able to clean out their closet and make a difference in the confidence of foster students – a true win-win for everyone.
